Display task and timer in Mac touchbar#83

…for machines with that (mostly useless) touchbar. Would certainly make it more useful instead of being blank 90% of the time.

We tested it early on and it indeed does finally give some meaning to the bar. This is definitely on the roadmap :)

For now, you can add a custom solution using BetterTouchTool app. It will not show a timer but can trigger shortcuts and open the app

From what I can tell, this will not work because you can’t show a Touch Bar widget from one app while you’re focused on a different app.

Can anyone confirm/deny this? (I have a Macbook Pro without the Touch Bar)

Jordan, I just got a Macbook Pro with a touchbar and so far that seems to be my impression as well. I agree though that it would be pretty cool to have some kind of Slash - Touch Bar integration.

@Evan Aguilar see my last comment. I don’t think it’s possible to do this and make it appear while you’re in other apps.

Notably, BetterTouchTool seems to have a way to insert a button directly into the control strip (which is always visible globally across apps), but that may use private APIs or not allow for dynamic content (it’s just a static icon to launch BTT), so possibly not suitable for the purpose here. But just thought I’d point it out.

Yes we tested it using BTT for it in early days of Slash alpha actually, and it had some potential, but it would be rather shortcuts to actions than a cross-platform Focus Bar unfortunately. We’ll keep looking into it though!

For now anyone can use BTT to map icons to our keyboard shortcuts, but that’s of course pretty basic

Is there a way to get BTT to display the current task?

@Jordan Lejuwaan I did something to the settings where the task was displaying at the botoom of my screen but I now it gives me a big square window. How do I get it back to the bottom of the screen

@Srinivas Rao Please create separate posts for unrelated questions! You can resize & move the focus window by dragging it just like any other windows.
